The Chimhavira Safari Concept

"Based out of Johannesburg Chimhavira specialises in providing fully-supported, privately guided and personally tailored safaris covering the Southern African region"

A Chimhavira Safari is a limited participation safari, but this doesn't mean that you have to rough it in the wilds of Africa wearing filthy clothes wear dirty hair, eat cold canned food and sleep in the back of a dusty battered vehicle.

What is does mean is that you need to be open-minded, relatively organised and be ready for anything that Africa cares to throw at you! Put it this way, if you are looking for a safari that offers crystal glasses, silk linen, a wind-up gramophone, attentive waiters and portable bath with rose petals floating in the water and not to lift a finger, then you should consider booking a 5-star mobile safari or visiting a luxury safari lodge instead.

Chimhavira is a company of contrasts. Unless you make a trip with us you will never believe that on one hand you could be in the worlds oldest desert, the Namib desert, or on the other hand the untamed Skeleton Coast. With Chimhavira you will encounter larger than life landscapes, you will gaze upon rich wildlife and meet with rugged people.  No matter where we take you, you will have an unforgettable experience, an experience of a lifetime.

Chimhavira skilfully incorporates all the rustic features that our guests love whilst still enjoying creature comforts. Our vehicles ensure our guests a comfortable safari – the little touches that characterise a Chimhavira Safaris are evident everywhere.

On the activities from, we have become a popular outfitter birders and nature enthusiasts. Join Chimhavira and explore Africa for yourself.
