Medical Issues

"Our Guests health and safety is paramount - Africa's biggest killer is the mosquito - ensure you bring with you anti malarial medication. If you need advise Chimhavira will be pleased to offer advise and assist in anyway we can. "

At Chimhavira Overland Safaris we know only to well that when travelling overland and to remote regions a medical kit could be a lifesaver and we consider one essential.

You as a participant should consider and include in your wash bag, Malaria tablets (obtain advise from your doctor/pharmacist), if you wear glasses or contact lenses, you should have with you a spare pair of glasses or enough lenses and cleaning solutions to last your trip. Also carry with you a copy of your prescription.

If you take oral contraception you should have enough supplies to last your trip.

Chimhavira Overland Safaris will ensure that we have soluble aspirin, a course of antibiotics, re-hydration salts, plasters and bandages, potassium permanganate crystals, water purification tablets and other drying antiseptic, iodine and sun block cream. Scissors, tweezers, a thermometer, and a torch are also essential items. Bearing in mind the widespread AIDS epidemic, syringes & needles (in more remote areas these may be in short supply), so your Safari guides vehicle will carry a supply.

Malaria and other tropical diseases

Most destinations we visit are in malarial areas. It is essential that you visit your local doctor or travel clinic to obtain professional malaria advice as well as information regarding other vaccinations which might be required for the countries you are visiting.

Please be note that Chimhavira Overland Safaris cannot take responsibility for anyone who contracts malaria or any other tropical disease while on safari.
